I grew up in Atwater and graduated from Atwater High School in 1977.
I then attended the U. S. Air Force Academy, and graduated in 1981 with a B.S. in International Affairs.
I attended flight school in Columbus, MS, and after receiving my pilot wings I went to RF-4 training in Austin, TX.
I spent eighteen months in the Pacific Air Forces, assigned to Okinawa, Japan, but spending a fair amount of time in both Korea and the Philippines. I then returned to Texas for the next three years, during which I upgraded to instructor pilot.
My last three years in the Air Force were spent at Ft. Hood, TX as an Air Liaison Officer.
In 1990 I resigned my commission in the Air Force and started teaching at Belton High School, in Belton, TX.
My first three years in Belton I taught World Geography and Economics. In my fourth year, I moved into the mathematics department and started teaching Algebra 1. I picked up Honors Physics the next year, which I taught until I left Texas to return to California in 1999.
I have been at Atwater High School since August of 1999. I have taught all of the mathematics courses offered here, with the exception of statistics. I was the department chairman for the mathematics department for eighteen years.
I have four grown children, all of whom graduated from AHS, and my wife of over 30 years is a RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children's Hospital in Madera.
I retired from teaching on 6 June 2021.
